Genomic Technologies Workshop
Date: Tuesday, March 18
Time: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM
Location: TBA
Audience: All current and potential JGI users with an interest in Genomic Technologies.
Description: This all-day workshop will give an overview of the genomic capabilities available to JGI users through the genomic technologies group. In the morning session, we will focus on capabilities in genome sequencing, genome variation analysis, RNA sequencing and epigenomics. In the first afternoon session, we will cover metagenome sequencing, single cell genome sequencing and gene function annotation. The concluding session will cover DNA synthesis and genome engineering capabilities. Each talk will provide an overview of the experimental and computational approaches employed, followed by an illustrative case study from a recent sequencing project. We intend for this to be a highly interactive session, and welcome comments and questions about existing technologies, as well as suggestions of new technologies that JGI should explore in the future.

Registration: Pre-registration required.
JGI Fungal Genomics Workshop
Date: Tuesday, March 18
Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Location: TBA
Audience: Users and potential users of the Mycocosm fungal genomics portal.
Description: This half-day workshop will introduce new developments from the JGI Fungal Program and discuss ways of starting new projects with the JGI. Principle Investigators of some of the most successful CSP projects will present cutting-edge science and share their secrets on writing successful proposals efficiently. A spectrum of genomics and other omics technologies, including analytical tools available from JGI and its partners, will be discussed.

Location: TBA
Audience: All current and potential JGI users with an interest in Prokaryotic genomics.
Description: This workshop will provide an overview of the Prokaryotic Program available to JGI users through the Prokaryotic Super Program group. The session will include presentations explaining the Microbial and the Metagenomics programs. Discussions will include current research, scientific vision and future technological advances. We aim for this to be a highly interactive session, and welcome comments and questions about existing programs, as well as suggestions of new programs that JGI should explore in the future.
